Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief Review
Posted on March 15th, 2011 at 3:38 pm by and tagged , , , , , ,

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is my favourite movie! It is a thrilling, adventurous and is a fantasy movie. It is all about greek mythology and of course the monsters from greek mythology. It is a fantastic movie about a boy who discovers he is not mortal. Then he goes on a quest to find the god Zeus’s powerful weapon, the lightning bolt! The movie is based on the book Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. He wrote a five book series about Percy Jackson. The books are The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, The Titan’s Curse, The Battle of the Labryinth and The Last Olympian. They are very fantasy typed books and are a very good read! I would recommend reading the books and buying the movie.

Tron: Legacy Review
Posted on March 15th, 2011 at 3:28 pm by and tagged , , , , , ,

I went with my parents to see the new high tech disney movie, Tron: Legacy. We were all very excited to know when it would be on. We saw it in IMAX 3D! It was so great! I think it’s a thrilling and adventurous movie about electronic and sci-fi typed things. It has a very good storyline and at times is quite thrilling! I would recommend buying it when it comes out on DVD. I is a very well done movie and is very good.

kitchen Garden Cooking

On the 16/09/2010 we made some lovely chocolate muffins from a cookbook called Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. I borrowed the book from our school library and are enjoying the lovely recipes in it. I hope you enjoy this lovely recipe of chocolate muffins which are to die for!

Ingredients
80 g butter
200 g plain flour (We used White Wings Gluten Free Plain Flour)
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon bicarb soda
1 cup caster sugar
1/3 cup vegetable oil
80 g cocoa
3/4 cup water
1 egg + 1 egg yolk
3/4 cup buttermilk

Method

1. Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees celsius. Put some patty pans in a muffin tin.

2. In a large bowl, sift flour, salt and bicarb soda. Stir in caster sugar.

3. In a small bowl place chopped butter, oil, cocoa and water. Heat some water in a small saucepan and place bowl over the saucepan. The water should not touch the bottom of the bowl.

4. When butter has melted remove the bowl from the water. Stir mixture until smooth.

5. To the cocoa and butter mixture add the egg and egg yolk. Lightly whisk the mixture.

6. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and tip the cocoa and butter mixture into the well. Stir thoroughly to combine. Stir in the buttermilk.

7. Spoon into the prepared muffin tin. We found that this mixture makes about 14 muffins. Bake for 12-15 minutes. We baked them for 15 minutes.

In the end, they come out very moist and chocolatey. In my opinion, I think they are the best muffins in the whole world.

Backwards is a book by Chelsea who is a very talented girl when it comes to writing. It is about six kids who were separated from there parents after their birth. It is an adventurous, thrilling, life or death story.

The characters in this story are Efil, Ragus, Ksum, Ymerej, On, Raef, Granny, Rani, Vliss, Mary and Phillipe.

Here are some parts of the story that I absolutely love:

Milk stuck her head in. She could see! She burst up and grabbed the rope from Efil’s bag and dived in. She could see as clear as day. She swam down and saw Raef. She swam down and down and down and tied the rope to his wrist. She shot up, holding onto the rope, pulling him up as she swam.

“Oh yes, it was your father’s idea to change your name backwards from your real names. He got the idea from the theatre.”    “So, my name’s not Ragus!” gasped Ragus.                                                                                                                                                             “No, we named you of things we love and there is no such thing as a Ragus. Your name is Sugar! We named you that because it is so sweet and yummy!” There was a silence. “Ymerej, your name is Jeremy, which is a name we both love. Ksum, your name is Musk, which is a sweet smell and flavour. On and Raef, because you are so much like each other we made your names a sentence, On-No and Raef-Fear. No Fear, because it is better to not be afraid. Efil, the last of the sextuplets to be born, is Life because we value life so much and it is one of the greatest joys to bring life to babies as we did. They all wore a smile and Life whispered to Sugar, “Isn’t this the best feeling ever? To be loved?” Sugar smiled and said, “You know Life, for once you are absolutely right!”

Here is a link to lulu.com where you can buy Chelsea’s book. It had 3 ratings they all rated five stars!!!!!!!!!

I really hope that Chelsea publishes some more books and I will definitely be reading them!
